Intended Use

The Equine Herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) Real-Time PCR Detection Kit is designed for the detection of Equine Herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) nucleic acid in veterinary clinical specimens collected primarily from horses. The kit aids in the diagnosis and monitoring of EHV-1 infection, supporting early disease detection, differential diagnosis of equine respiratory, neurological, and reproductive diseases, timely implementation of biosecurity measures, disease surveillance, and effective clinical management in veterinary diagnostic laboratories.

Principle of the Assay

This kit utilizes real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) technology with highly specific primers and fluorescent hydrolysis probes targeting a conserved genomic region of the Equine Herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) genome.

During amplification, the probe specifically hybridizes to its target sequence and generates a fluorescence signal that is detected by compatible real-time PCR instruments. The increase in fluorescence intensity is directly proportional to the accumulation of amplified product, enabling sensitive, specific, and reliable detection of Equine Herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) nucleic acid.
