Retro Biotech Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Microbial Control (UTI-MC) is a mixture of 6 heat-inactivated organisms (two gram-positive bacteria, two gram-negative bacteria, and two fungi) known to cause UTI. UTI-MC was prepared with organisms isolated from human urine and contains intact organisms that should be processed the same as human urine specimens. UTI-MC is suitable for evaluating DNA extraction methods and molecular diagnostic assays. The extraction control pool contains the easy-to-lyse gram-negative bacteria and fungi with rigid cell walls. Therefore, UTI-MC is suitable for investigating and eliminating nucleic acid extraction bias influencing diagnostic outcomes. Additionally, UTI-MC is ideal for developing and validating molecular diagnostics tools for UTIs.
